The obvious consequence of booking your vacations online is that travel agents are used less and less. It is not only because you can book your vacation form the comfort of you home but generally, it will be less expensive as well. Unlike most people, I still enjoy using a travel agent and talking to a real person and I can’t see that changing; however, I also enjoy doing my research using the internet so I have a good idea of just what the resort is like that I am going too.

It isn’t difficult to go ahead and check out the destinations that you are thinking about exploring and I have done that many times; I have even looked at rates to see if they are affordable before I approach a travel agent. I think that these people are undervalued as they need to have a good knowledge of each country and can be very helpful when you have questions relating to your trip. If you are planning on international travel, they can advise you of things you need to know and you can find out what some of the laws are that might affect you.

Your agent can also be useful in giving advice on what to see and if there is a charge to enter the country you’re visiting. The internet cannot do everything for you though as it’s not designed to look after your every need and make sure you have as few problems when you travel as possible. I can’t help it because I just like dealing with someone face to face and know that there is a certain amount of care involved with my travel arrangements which is something I do not feel the internet caters for. While it is easy and usually cheaper to do all you’re booking online, it is not so helpful when something goes wrong and you have to complain; something the travel agent is there for as well.Seeing a travel agent in person became much more important when my husband to be and I decided to get married outside of America and we needed a great deal of help with booking the whole vacation and wedding.

What really made the difference was the way our representative approached the whole wedding arrangements; there was an enthusiasm to the work that was quite infectious, something that I shall never forget. She gave us some educated guesses about pricing without even checking anything officially and I asked tons of questions but she was incredibly patient with me.As she was so quick to get all this done we decided to book the wedding and honeymoon almost straight away. I’m also a fan of travel agents over using the internet because if you end up booking the vacation from hell, you have no one to blame but yourself whereas if you used a travel agency, at least you’ll have someone to complain too.
