Plymouth Weekend City Breaks and Visitor Attractions to See
United Kingdom vacations seem to be incredibly popular this year, due to the current economic climate and the weak pound. Great Britain has large selection of top class vacation destinations including London (the English capital) and other fascinating cities plus a fine selection of seaside resorts such as; Blackpool, Skegness, Southport and Bognor Regis. One city often overlooked is Plymouth in the south of England.
First appearances are that Plymouth appears rather bland and fairly modern, but searching a little deeper and you will very quickly discover that the city has a rich history and a long association with the sea. As far back as the fifteen hundreds there has been a busy port in Plymouth. In fifteen eighty eight Sir Francis Drake embarked from the port at Plymouth to defend the British from the Spanish Armada. Another historic moment occurred in 1620 when the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for North America.
It is possible to take reasonably priced Plymouth weekend city breaks by making a reservation in Plymouth bed and breakfast rather than staying in a overpriced hotel. A quick search on Yahoo will show that you can make a reservation from £29 a night and many guest houses offer reasonably priced dinners too, commonly equivalent to, or less expensive than local restaurants.
Places To Visit In Plymouth
There are a great many places in Plymouth that are well worth visiting. Popular tourist attractions include; Merchant’s House Museum, the Mayflower Steps, St Andrew’s church and the National Marine Aquarium. A cruise around the port is an interesting way to spend some time but if you find that you have more time why not take a day out to other places close to Plymouth, such as; Mount Edgcumbe, Buckland Abbey or Saltram House.
Saltram House is a lovely Tudor Mansion which is found 2m east of the town of Plymouth, Mount Edgcumbe is a further Tudor house with landscaped gardens, parklands and coastal paths, and Buckland Abbey, about 6 miles in distance from Plymouth, is a Cistercian abbey which was at one time by Sir Francis Drake and was at a later date redesigned as a family home.
If you and your family are currently deciding upon taking a vacation in Plymouth it is incredibly important that you book your room at the earliest moment because, sadly Plymouth guest houses and hotels tend to be alarmingly busy and are commonly fully booked months in advance. If you have a large family you may find that Plymouth apartments prove to be less expensive option to bed and breakfast accommodation in Plymouth. If you are visiting England from overseas then you could consider booking a room for a few days in hotels in London to take in the attractions of the capital city of England too.

BT are leaking money, so offer holidays instead of wages!
Some businesses come up with ideas of saving on spending wages, but what about sending staff on a years holiday, without wages?
Well BT have come out and said that this is what they are going to be offering their employees. Basically if the employees want they are being given the chance to take a 25% stake of there annual wages and keep it for the rest of the year, but they wont receive any more, they will then have the rest of the year as time off. Another option that is really being pushed forward is to ask some employees to take a one thousand pound lump sum and then go part time for the rest of the year.
So what’s spurred this on? Well basically BT has announced they have made over a whopping 1 billion pounds loss in the first three months of this tax year. So their plan is to reduce the wages to all of their one hundred thousand staff, this way they can save a large sum of spending fees.
So looking at this in a positive light, what do the employees get out of this? Taking the time to be with the family will be nice, especially if the spouse is working, you will still have some income. The other thing that they do mention, is that nobody will be pushed or forced into taking these options. This also means that some can embark on some very long trips or soul searching holidays. Relaxing St Lucia holidays or Egypt Holidays.
However there are problems with this as well, people wont be able to afford to go on any of these holidays. However people with children although may be able to spend more time with the family, they will find it hard to cope without the spending money. Have BT really thought about their employees in regards to this? Personally I believe that BT needs to find other ways of sorting out the business instead of letting its employees take the fall.
However if you are one of the lucky ones who can still afford Caribbean holidays, then you may as well enjoy the break.

Holiday prices have been falling and so have the Luxury holidays!
Travel first class; go to beautiful destinations around the world. Is it possible to find holidays better than the luxury holidays? Luxury holidays have sometimes just been the thing of dreams, but most prices are falling and can be afforded by many more of us? All the prices from all the companies around the world are coming down, just to get more people to go abroad with them.
Caribbean holidays have been fantasy destinations for many of us, but most of the time they are just out of reach. With these costs lowering as they have been, more people will find these holidays more accessible. Even flying first class has always been expensive, but now upgrades from standard have come down in price as well. If you want to go to the Caribbean and go on Grenada holidays, you will find that prices have even fallen to about six hundred pounds in some places. The price of All inclusive holidays have come down as well. The advantage with this type of holiday, is being able to see exactly how much the entire holiday will cost.
However holidays abroad, and especially luxury ones are still a little expensive. Especially when you compare holidays overseas to holidays in your own country. Some people might say that it is better and cheaper just to go down to the beach in you local area, rather than going abroad for a huge amount more. When you think of it this way, the luxury holiday seems a little bit ridiculous even if the prices have come down.
What you need to do is decide a couple of months before you plan your holiday if you can save up a little extra cash, if you are going to go on luxury holidays, now is the time to do it. You wont have to put so much of your money to one side to save up for one of these holidays now. So why not just save up some cash for yourself to enjoy a nice holiday.
